致兩千年後的你

本設計藉由「與 S-501 的對話」，探索新竹建功油庫的主體性與空間本質，提供既有建築再利用的另一種觀點。靈感源自路易斯·康與磚的一段假想對談：「You say to brick, ‘What do you want, brick?’ Brick says to you, ‘I like an arch.’」透過賦予材料主體性，探索其構築邏輯與空間潛能。本案延伸此概念，於建功油庫即將轉變之際，與其展開一場關於空間、建築與本質的對話。

設計進一步引入當代科技，透過資訊建構與表徵（characterization），以及人工智慧生成文本（AIGC），使 S-501 槽體成為具有意識的對話者。設計者輸入基地脈絡與空間資訊，生成結合其結構特徵與歷史經驗的語言意識，並以對話文本與手繪空間操作回應，嘗試挖掘其內在精神與空間價值，進而生成推測性的建築成果。

本設計不以功能性改造為目標，而是對空間本質的再詮釋。最終，這些對話將轉化為一段建築預言，延續其歷史意義與空間本質，作為歷史與未來之間的橋梁，使建功油庫從「被利用」轉變為「被理解」，提供人們重新思考「空間存在」的可能性。

To You, Two Thousand Years From Now
This project begins with a dialogue—between the designer and S-501, a fuel tank at the historic Jianggong Oil Depot in Hsinchu. Inspired by Louis Kahn’s imagined exchange with a brick—“You say to brick, ‘What do you want, brick?’ Brick says, ‘I like an arch.’”—the design treats the structure not as an object to be altered, but as a subject to be understood.

Through contemporary technologies such as information modeling and AI-generated text (AIGC), S-501 is given a voice. It responds to input on site context and spatial history, generating a unique architectural consciousness. The designer engages in this dialogue through hand-drawn spatial responses and speculative interventions.

Rather than pursuing functional reuse, the project reinterprets spatial essence—framing design as a form of architectural prophecy. In doing so, the oil tank is transformed from a relic to a conscious presence, offering a new way to understand space not simply as utility, but as memory, meaning, and future potential.
